Touched by a ghost
Today is Halloween; why not post a scary story? This is one
of my personal experiences. It was when I was twelve. My mother wanted to
surprise my grandmother and we drove to her house without telling her. When we
arrived we discovered her driveway gate was closed and locked. Usually it would
be open. The screen door was closed but I could see her front door was open. My
little brother and I started screaming for her to open the gate, but we didn't
hear a response. My mom suggested she might be in the restroom and we waited
about 10 minutes but we didn't see any movement in the house. I decided to jump
over the gate, my grandmother hated it because I would land on her plants but
it was hot that day and we didn't feel like being out there in the sun. After I
jumped the fence I went directly to her door, but the screen door was locked
too. I yelled out for my grandmother but there was no response. When I looked
inside I could see to the bedroom and directly into the restroom and she wasn't
around. I turned and yelled at my mom that she wasn't home.
My grandmother had three houses, two were connected and the
main one was separate. They were old homes my grandfather and her would live
in. She rented them when she moved to the main house. My mother said for me to find
one of the tenants and ask where my grandmother was. I obliged. I knocked on
the door of the house nearest my grandmother's but no answer. The curtains were
closed and the door was locked, I guessed there was no one home. I went to the
other house and knocked on the door. The front door was open but the screen
door was closed. I didn't receive a response but I heard the shower go off. I
knocked again and noticed the screen door wasn't locked. I looked over to my
mom and brother in the street by the car and signaled 'no'. My little brother
told me to go in. I looked inside and yelled if anyone was home but I didn't
receive a response. I knocked again and then announced I was coming in. Again,
no response. I went in but stayed as close to the door as possible and asked if
anyone was home. I heard the shower turn on again. I walked in a bit further
into the living room and asked in an inside voice if someone was there.
Silence.
I looked outside the window that was to my left to signal to
my mom that nobody was home. I looked to the screen door and then to the room
where I was hearing the showerhead go off. I looked outside the window again
and at that exact same moment I felt someone breathing on my neck. I stood
there paralyzed since I knew I was alone and I was trying to make sense of what
I was feeling. I had no intention of turning back to see what though. I did
turn my head to the front where the screen door was and then I felt it. I felt
someone's hand touch my shoulder. Remember I said it was hot that day? Yea,
well this hand was cold, snow cold. I gasped without a sound, ran outside, and
jumped the fence. I told my mom and brother nobody was home and opened the door
to the car and sat in there until my grandmother arrived twenty minutes later.
She was out shopping. Never did I step foot in that house again. I didn't tell
my family until a few years passed. When I told them about it they said they
had creepy experiences in that house too, but I was the only one to be touched
by it. Lucky me.
