December 21 2012 the end?

I am skeptical when it comes to this question.

I do think something important might happen on this certain date.

The Mayan, like most people have mentioned, predicted this date to be very important. As I said important, they didn't mention it being the end of the world, nowhere does it say that. It does however predict that there will be great turmoil on Earth i.e.: tsunamis, earthquakes, floods, and volcanic eruptions beyond imaginable. The Earth will change and there will be more water than land left. Where it isn't cold will be cold and where it isn't hot it's going to be hot in other words change in polar ends.

They say it is the end of the fifth great cycle and that only a few people will survive. Not the world ending!

I haven't yet read a book where the Mayan actually say it is the end of the world.

I am currently reading a book about it and they don't mention anything in their hieroglyphics of the world's end. They stopped counting or making the calendar after that date, but I ask myself did they stop because they wanted to or because they had already disappeared?

Ok so Mayan Calendar and their beliefs aside, we have the Native American, Zulu, Aztec, Pueblo Indians, and Inca predicting this date too.

Pueblo Indians actually say that we will undergo a purge if we don't let go of the illusion and lie, I translate it into messing with mother earth.

The Native Americans have a similar prophecy.

Zulu say we are doomed because the Sun will burn us all.

Aztecs kind of say the same. Their ‘god’ (Sun) will be mad because they haven't given him a sacrifice in a long time.

The Incas say we will enter a Golden Age in 2012, however their calendar says we are programmed to perish in 2013, that's like a whole 'nother year! Also in 2013 there will be a massive asteroid hitting Earth (the asteroid three times the size of Jupiter!) and only a few people will survive/be left to start the Sixth Generation.

How can anyone survive that? And that is what gets me to question the whole thing. The set year is 2012 then it changes to the year 2013, what?

As for the scientific point of view ... we are messing with the Earth and ozone layer. We are cutting trees down and laying chemical waste in our water. The Sun pretty much is having it's days too and it has started since Feb 2001. There is also an asteroid heading towards Earth and impacting on Jan 21, 2012, so is this the start?

The religion point of view ... Hindus, Christians, Tibetans, and Jewish hold this date as important.

Wait, but didn't they say Y2K in 1999/2000 was the end of the world? There was a fright for the end for computers. There were claims we would go back to colonial times.

So do I believe the world is going to end?

Maybe, but not really.
